Is Movica supported in my language?
I include some language translations, but they are mostly machine translations and almost certainly wrong. However there is a translation tool built in that allows you to correct the translations. Please send me your corrections (use the link in the tool) and I will include it in future distributions. Some languages contributed by users can be found here

Movica cannot edit this .wmv?
Not all wmv files are created equal. The underlying editing engine is actually asfbin. As asfbin supports more formats, your file might be editable. In case you have trouble, you can try the following things

  • Please make sure that you have upto date codecs installed
  • Try repairing your movie with asftools

I have .NET 2.x installed, why does Movica still want .NET 1.x?
From version 0.5 onwards, Movica uses the .NET framework 2.x

Why does mpg file editing fail with 'results in invalid range'?
The mpg editing engine that Movica uses is called mpgtx. For some movies, it gets the wrong idea about the duration of the movie. Thus for some edits towards the end of the movie can result in error. This can readily be confirmed by looking at the movie information through Movica. In such cases, you might have to resort to the command line option to edit your movie. See the mpgtx usage page for examples.

Why are the wmv files not cut cleanly at the selection points?
On the 'Advanced' tab, plese check the 'Use frame accurate editing'. Starting with version 0.6 this is the default option. Please remember to turn it off when you try to debug issues, since in some cases it might help to keep the edits at keyframe boundaries

Why are .flv files not cut cleanly at the selection points?
That is because to get a playable file without recompressing, Movica cuts the movie at keyframe boundaries. A list of keyframe boundaries can be viewed when you view the file information

Why does Movica take time to repair .flv files?
Some flv files have missing or incomplete header information. This information is needed for editing these movies. It takes some time to rebuild this information. Guillermo Revuelta, a user, has suggested a better tool for this. A future release may reduce the time taken.
